Do your fingers fly on the keyboard? Or, do you know a great typist who is looking for work?

Macomb County is looking for a full-time Typist Clerk III. The person fills this position will type various documents such as letter, reports, forms and general correspondence. The Typist Clerk III will also update and correct information on various forms. In addition to typing duties, this person will answer incoming phone calls, responding to questions and relaying messages as necessary, and help by providing information on policies and procedures.

There will also be some filing, copying, operating standard office equipment and lifting supplies that weigh up to 25 pounds.

To fill this position you must have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of clerical experience. The County prefers that candidates also have college or business school training as well.

You can also obtain an application from the Human Resources Department. The application must be submitted by 5 pm on the closing date (November 20, 2007).

Judge sets a precedent

Sheila Miller, 44, is the first African-American to serve as a judge in Macomb County. Gov. Jennifer Granholm sm.jpgappointed her in April to the 41-B District Court bench serving Mt. Clemens, Clinton and Harrison townships. She was an assistant Macomb County prosecutor for 14 years. She grew up in Detroit and attended Immaculata High School, Michigan State University and Cooley Law School. She's also the mother of an 8-year-old son. On and off the bench, she's a role model for women.

The Macomb County Probate Court is divided into two operational groups: the Wills & Estates Division and the Mental Division. The Wills & Estates Division is responsible for matters involving guardianships and conservatorships of both adults and minors, for estates of deceased persons, and for matters involving trusts. The Mental Division handles matters relating to involuntary commitments for psychiatric treatment and guardianships of individuals with a developmental disability.
