Retaliaton or Reprisal in the Macomb County Workplace
February 21, 2007 by employment commentOur exploration of workplace relationships begins with the issue that is the most vexing and the fastest growing type of discrimination complaint throughout the nation – retaliation or reprisal. It exemplifies the most extreme failure in building effective workplace relationships. It is the fastest growing form of workplace discrimination. It represents the most emotionally draining experience for employees, as well as supervisors and managers. And it is the form of discrimination that employers are most likely to loose in litigation. We will start by defining what is meant by “retaliation” from a legal point of view and how it occurs. More importantly, we will begin to explore how it can be prevented from the point of view of the employee and of the supervisor.
