Children living in Macomb County, Michigan are invited to share fun and exercise at the Macomb County Children's Health Fair. The fair will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, at the Macomb Community College Sports & Expo Center. The center is located on the Macomb Community College South Campus at 14500 E. 12 Mile Road (at Hayes Road) in Warren, Michigan.

The free annual health fair will feature a wealth of activities and information for children and their parents. More than 50 area healthcare and public service organizations will be participating. Some of the featured activities include a magic show, face painting, train rides, a visit from the mounted police, a dog agility demonstration, and much more. Several special performances are scheduled:

12-1:30 p.m. Dora the Explorer visits the fair
1 p.m. & 2 p.m. Ben Spitzer Magic Show
1:30-3 p.m. Sponge Bob Square Pants appears

At the fair parents can take advantage of the numerous health services that will be available for their children, including immunizations, health screenings, fingerprinting kits, dental assessments and more. In celebration of Macomb County’s rich heritage, the Macomb Foundation will honor individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to building the community of Macomb County at the 2006 Macomb Hall of Fame celebration on Tuesday, December 5. Festivities will include a reception, silent auction, dinner and an honorary program. The event will be held at Penna’s of Sterling in Sterling Heights.

Macomb Community College and Oakland University are welcoming students into the states first joint admission, concurrent enrollment program this fall. Dubbed Macomb 2 Oakland, the program is the centerpiece of a partnership between the two higher educational institutions to bring more meaningful degree-program options directly to the residents of Macomb County.
