10 Annual Bark In The Park
August 8, 2008 by Ralph Roberts commentThe 10th annual Bark in the Park will be held on August 9th and 10th at the Stony Creek Metropark in Macomb County. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The entire family is welcome to attend, including your own leashed dog.
There will be a competition with Splash Dogs that is sure to delight everyone. Splash Dogs is a dog enthusiast company that organizes and promotes dock jumping competitions mostly in the Western United States. They travel the country competing to find the top distance jumping dog.
Does your dog like to jump off of a dock into the water? If so, you too can enter the competition for a minimal fee. The dock for this competition is shorter than usual, so the jumping is just for fun for participants. Ribbons and rankings will be awarded, but no national titles. Dogs will run off of a 20 foot platform into a 30 foot pool. Dogs will be judged on their distance traveled.
There will also be races in the Course a’Lure and Macomb County residents are sure to enjoy rooting for their favorite dog. The dogs will compete as they chase a lure around a fantastic course. Dogs of all ages and sizes seem enjoy this fun event. There will also be a hilarious doggie fashion show as well as music from the Rock ‘N Roll K-9’s.
All proceeds from the day will benefit the Michigan Animal Rescue League. So bring your family and your furry friend out for a great day of fun in Macomb County this weekend.
