Hosea 4:6a says:  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.  When I was first diagnosed with melanoma, I was completely ignorant of what God promises me in His Word, (the Bible).  I didn’t know that it is ALWAYS God’s will to heal.  I knew that Jesus died for forgiveness of sins, but I didn’t know that Jesus died for my healing too!  And I had no idea how powerful the spoken word is, both in a negative way and in a positive way! 

But now I know!  God’s truth was shared with me, through a wonderful friend, through pastors and teachers at Life Christian Church in Troy, and through God’s revelation of His Word each day of my life as I read and meditate on scripture. 

But there’s more to developing faith for healing than just hearing the truth.  In order to receive all that God has for us, we need to receive His Word into our heart, and then apply it into our life! 

As I look back now, I realize that I was totally open to receive from God.  I had been handed a death sentence.  I had no medical hope.  All I had was the hope of a miracle from God.  As my journey began, a dear friend shared 3 fundamental truths with me. Knowledge of these truths saved my life!    

When Jesus was alive on this earth, He healed ALL who came to him.  He never denied healing to anyone.  And Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever!  (Hebrews 13:8)  What did I do with this information?  I began to devour scriptures regarding the miraculous healings in Jesus’ day.  There are 23 healing miracles performed by Jesus and written about in the four gospels.  I read and studied all of the accounts of these miracles over and over and over again. 

Christians agree that Jesus died for the forgiveness of our sins.  But sin in our lives opens the door to sickness and disease.  With the forgiveness of sins, provided through the death and resurrection of Jesus, the door to sickness and disease is slammed shut!  Halleluiah!

Fundamental truth #3 -- There is Power in the Word.

Proverbs 4:20-22 says, My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.  Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.  Wow, this scripture says that the Word of God is life and health, IF we pay attention, listen closely, do not let them out of our sight, and keep them within our heart!  Another wonderful scripture in Romans 10:17 says, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  This scripture says that hearing God’s Word builds faith.  And faith is necessary for receiving healing.
