16th Annual S.I.D.S. Dinner Dance in MACOMB COUNTY
February 2, 2007 by al caicedo commentOn behalf of Families Against S.I.D.S. Tragedies (F.A.S.T.), I am writing today to ask for your help in supporting the16th Annual Dinner Dance fundraiser, which will be held Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 at 6:00pm at The New Mirage Banquet Center in Clinton Township.
As you may be aware, S.I.D.S. is the sudden, unexpected death of an infant that remains unexplained after all known and possible causes have been ruled out. Despite our efforts, S.I.D.S. remains the number one cause of death for infants from one month to one year of age-still claiming the lives of approximately 2,300 precious babies in the United States each year (seven babies each day). Historically, S.I.D.S. has been a mystery, leaving behind devastated families and bewildered physicians. Today, we are beginning to find some answers. For example, proceeds raised by this Dinner Dance have helped fund research, which recently confirmed that S.I.D.S. is not a “mystery” disease, but has a concrete biological basis. The findings, announced by Dr. Hannah Kinney and Children’s Hospital in Boston, were featured in reports both locally and nationally, such as on Geraldo At Large. All of the answers have not been found yet, but if our efforts can save even one baby…think how wonderful that would be.SIDS Alliance is a nationwide 501(c) 3 voluntary health organization dedicated to the service of families, to the education of the public and health professionals, and to the ultimate elimination of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. All of the proceeds from this important event will be used for research and grief support to unlock the mystery of S.I.D.S. and create hope for those who have (or will) experience the nightmare of a child’s death.
