Probate Judge
The Honorable Kathryn A. George is a life-long Macomb County resident. After graduating from Harper Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1973, Judge George received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oakland University. Her employment as a nurse included critical care and emergency room nursing, working as the nurse manager of the U.S.Embassy in Kuwait and teaching at Oakland County Community College School of Nursing. She also authored articles in Nurse Week and Health Care Weekly magazine.Judge George earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1988. Employment included an appointment by the Governor to the State of Michigan Worker's Compensation Appeals Board and by the State of Michigan Board of Law Examiners to grade bar exams for attorneys. Judge George was in private practice from 1991 until her election to the Probate bench.Extensive community service included serving on the Sterling Heights City Council as both Councilwoman and Mayor pro tem from 1999 until her election to the Probate Court in 2002. The Macomb County Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Bar Association have honored Judge George for her special service to the community. She has received accolades for bringing together the Macomb County Bar Association and Sterling Heights Channel 5 to produce "Legally Speaking", a cable program which educates the community on legal issues. "Legally Speaking" has been aired throughout Michigan.Judge Kathryn A. George is a member of the Macomb County Probate Bar Association; Selfridge Air National Guard Base Community Council; Ukrainian-American Bar Association; Macomb County Bar Association; and the Michigan State Bar Association.
