Help for Macomb County Residents who are "Living with Autism"
April 14, 2008 by Ralph Roberts commentThis Wednesday, April 16, parents, teachers and anyone who is concerned about or affected by autism will have the opportunity to communicate with experts and with each other at the “Living with Autism” workshop. This workshop is being brought to our area by Metro Parent magazine, Oakland University and Henry Ford Health System.
Staff from the Henry Ford Health System, Oakland University's School of Education and the Kaufman Children's Center will be on hand to facilitate sessions and answer your questions.
In addition to medical experts, one of the featured speakers will be actress and television personality, Jenny McCarthy. MacCarthy has written about and been very open in sharing her struggles to parent an autistic son. She will speak and also participate in a question and answer session.
The event begins with continental breakfast at 7:45 am at the Hilton, 5500 Crooks Road, in Troy. Then participants can attend breakout sessions on a variety of topics, such as diagnosis and genetics. Later McCarthy will speak.
You can learn more about the workshop and get ticket information at www.metroparent.com when you click on the “Metro Parent Events” link.
